Long, random passwords reduce the risk of compromise. Use unique passwords for each account.
Recommendations
- At least 12 characters
- Mix different character types
- Use a password manager to store passwords
Password types and strength
- Weak: short passwords with only letters or digits — easily cracked.
- Medium: letters + digits, length 8–12 — harder but vulnerable to dictionary attacks.
- Strong: upper+lower letters + digits + symbols, 12+ length — recommended.
- Passphrase: several words — high entropy and easier to remember.
